36. underway

= 진행 중인 (in progress)

  • Is the campaign underway?
  • It has already been underway.
  • Preparations for the festival are well underway.

 

37. twisted

= 반전/예상치못한 변화 (twist)

  • Everybody was surprised unexpectedly. The story has a surprising twist.
  • He put a new twist on a classic recipe.

= 비틀다/왜곡하다 (distort)

  • Don’t twist my words.

 

38. catch

= 속셈 / 꿍꿍이 / 함정 / 책략 (a hidden problem or disadvantage)

  • What’s the catch?
  • It’s totally free. No strings attached. — What’s the catch? — There is no catch.
  • It’s too good to be true. What’s the catch?

 

39. bring

= (어떤 장소로) 오게 하다 / 데려오다

  • What brought you to Paris?
  • What brings you to this part of town?
  • Does this music bring back any memories?

 

40. surprisingly

= 놀랄 만큼 / 의외로

  • It’s surprisingly tender.
  • The exam was surprisingly easy.
  • She seemed surprisingly calm despite the bad news.

 

41. give it a chance

= 기회를 주다 / 한번 시도해보다

  • I think you’re gonna like it if you give it a chance.
  • I know you don’t like trying new food, but just give it a chance, it’s delicious.
  • The new operating system seems complicated at first, but if you give it a chance, you might find it very useful.
  • Things haven’t worked out so far, but we have to give it a chance to succeed.

 

42. grab

= (잠깐/재빠르게) ~하다 / 잡다 / 사오다

  • I’m just grabbing some croissants for him.
  • Let’s grab a bite to eat before the movie.
  • Can you grab me a cup of coffee on your way back?
